Brimming with history - The London County Hall and annual Steel Window Association meeting

Designed by Ralph Knott and construction commencing in 1911, the London County Hall is located within the heart of the capital. The grade II listed building is rich with history. Once housing the local government, the listed property has more recently been transformed into a multi-use site.

This includes family adventures, hotels, office spaces and the arts.

ASWS were selected to refurbish 116 windows on 2 floors within the historical property. Serious repair work was carried out due to extreme rust damage and several windows were replaced completely.

To complement the Edwardian baroque architecture, the B205N09F is a unique window handle with a gentle curvature to the lever. These are matched with Steel Window Fittings’ duplex system to stay true to its heritage appearance whilst providing security to the window.

The Steel Window Fittings team were invited to attend the Steel Window Association’s annual general meeting hosted at the London County Hall. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with both customers and industry experts as well as see our handles and duplex systems in situ on such a prestigious building.
